Our Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our goal is to create opportunities for all<\/strong> students, including students learning English, to learn rigorous mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why it Matters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mathematics teachers at all levels are responsible for developing mathematical proficiency among all of their students. Achieving this goal is especially challenging in linguistically diverse classrooms because English Learners must simultaneously develop understandings of key mathematical concepts while developing fluency in academic English. Nearly 25% of California students are classified as English Learners, yet many of them do not have access to opportunity to learn mathematics. The stakes are especially high in the modern era, where we expect students to learn both rigorous content and 21st century skills such as modeling with mathematics and engaging in argumentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
